Metal Materials: Most exotic metals were originally abundant on Rytol, after its destruction meteors carrying these rare materials rained down on the face of Draconspire. Adamantine and Mithiril are two of the more common alien ores, with the following metals being even scarcer.

Ice Iron (special material [metal]): Ice Iron is most abundant on the high peaks of the Heman Dal Mountains, although smaller deposits have been found in most all major mountain ranges. A weapon made from this blue veined iron acts as a +1 magical weapon in temperatures 32 degrees or below. Weapons, shields or armor made from Ice Iron are always masterwork quality (included in the modifier) and can bypass cold iron damage reduction. Ice Iron applied to armor or a shield grants its wearer a +2 material bonus to all saving throws made against spells with the cold descriptor or to resist the effects of a cold environment. Items not normally made of metal cannot be made out of Ice Iron.

Clouded Steel (special material [metal]): This extremely rare metal comes from the deepest recesses of the most isolated Dwarfholds. The main exporter of Clouded Steel is the Dwarfhold of Dull’marr under the Calemil Mountans. Clouded Steel appears to have milky clouds folded into its surface. The most useful trait of this exotic metal is its light weight. Items made from this metal weigh ¼ of the normal items weight. Weapons, armor or shields made of Clouded Steel are always masterwork (included in the modifier). Items not normally made out of metal cannot be made out of Clouded Steel. Armor made out of Clouded Steel is treated as one category lighter with heavy armors being treated as medium, medium armors being treated as light and light armor remaining as light. In addition, the spell failure chance for shields and armor made out of Clouded Steel are lessened by 15%, maximum dexterity bonus is increased by 3, and armor check penalties are lessened by 4 (to a minimum of 0). Weapons created from Clouded Steel have a decrease in weight, but do not change size categories.

Crimson Solder (special material [metal]: This glowing crimson metal is found in liquid form drifting along the scalding lakes of lava in Piraktos, the elemental plane of fire. And in smaller pockets under the volcanic crust of Brinemantle. Once cooled, it takes on a metallic crimson hue and becomes workable into metal weapons and armor. Two unique properties make this rare metal highly desired by adventurers. For starters, weapons forged of Crimson Solder can overcome chaotic based damage reduction, in addition items made of Crimson Solder shed soft red light when in areas above 70 degrees to a radius of 20 feet, increasing all existing light conditions in the area by 1 step. For example, dim light becomes normal, and darkness becomes dim light. Crimson Solder cannot increase the light level beyond normal light. Only weapons or armor normally made mostly of metal can be crafted from Crimson Solder, for example, the head of an axe could be made of this material however a quarterstaff or long bow could not. The forging process required to melt and reform Crimson Solder requires any item forged of this metal to be of masterwork quality (included in the price modifier).

Organic Materials: Adventurers have learned over the ages of certain living materials that enhance items beyond the standard mediums. The following is a list of the more commonly known organic materials.

Grey Oak (special material [organic]: Grey Oak grows deep within the Bramblemoor and the Sunken Forest. This wood displays a smooth grain and deep grey color but is otherwise indistinguishable from other wood. Items made mostly of this material are impervious to acidic damage and do not take acidic or other forms of digestive damage. Items not normally made of wood or only partially made of wood cannot be made out of Grey Oak. Any weapon, shield or armor made out of Grey Oak is always masterwork in quality, to determine the cost of an item made of Grey Oak use the original weight but add 10 GP per pound to the masterwork cost of the item.

Grey Oak has 10 hit points per inch of thickness and a hardness of 5.

Blade Weave (special material [organic]: Blade Weave is created from the dried stalks of blade grass, the most abundant source coming from the Glaive Sea in Castros. This organic and fibrous material retains its sharp edges during the drying process, but hardens similar to leather. Armor or other items primarily made of cloth or leather can instead be made of Blade Weave. The craftsmanship involved in the creation of Blade Weave renders any item made of Blade Weave masterwork (included in the modifier).A creature equipped with a Blade Weave item in any body, shoulder, chest or armor slot deals 1 point of slashing damage when dealt damage from a natural weapon or when obtaining the grappled condition. This damage is cumulative, for example, if wearing a Blade Weave cape and Blade Weave leather armor you would deal 2 points of slashing damage to any target that strikes you with a natural weapon. To determine the cost of an item made with Blade Weave use the original weight of the item but add 50 GP per pound to the masterwork cost of the item.

Blade Weave has 5 hit points per inch of thickness and a hardness of 2.

Corded Vilkirus (special material [organic]: The Vilkirus plant grows only in Gaiamale, the elemental plane of earth, in regions of bright light near petrified wood deposits. While attempts have been made to transport this plant to Draconspire all current cultivation attempts have ended in failure. The vines of a Vikirus plant are a bright blue while living but become a deep red once dried and woven into armor, the plant is known for retaining its sticky sap for years after it has been fully cured. The craftsmanship involved in the creation if Corded Vikirus renders any item made of Corded Vikirus masterwork (included in the modifier). Only armor can be made of Corded Vilkirus, and only armor not primarily made of metal. Armor made out of Corded Vilkirus is well known for its ability to stop blood loss, the wearer of such armor becomes immune to the bleed condition if the bleed damage causes hit point loss or constitution damage as sticky sap staunches the blood loss immediately. In addition armor made of Corded Vilkirus provides a +2 equipment bonus to stabilization checks. To determine the cost of an item made out of Corded Vikirus use the original weight of the item but add 100 GP per pound to the masterwork cost of the item.

Corded Vikirus has 5 hit points per inch of thickness and a hardness of 2.

Mineral Materials: Not all additional materials are organic or metal based, the following list of materials fall into the mineral category, being either from the material plane of Draconspire of from the far reaches of the outer planes.

Razor Glass (special material [mineral]: Razor Glass can be found in open veins throughout the Scorched Lands. This yellow and purple glass is exceptionally sharp, and is thought to be the remains of a distant cataclysmic event that wracked the Scorched Lands eons ago. Normal slashing and piercing weapons can be fashioned from this material to double their standard critical range. Instead of increasing its critical range, ammunition fashioned from Razor Glass ignores 1 point of its targets armor class derived from armor or natural armor if no armor is worn. Each time an item fashioned from Razor Glass scores a critical hit there is a 10% chance that the item shatters beyond repair, rendering the item useless. This effect does not stack with the improved critical feat or similar ability. Applying this material to a weapon decreases the weapons hardness to 1 and lowers its hit points to half of the normal items hit point total.

Bane Ice (special material [mineral]: Bane Ice originates from Vahudor, the plane of water. This crystalline mineral can be found in the deepest and coldest reaches of this elemental plane in small stalagmite deposits, the result of elemental energies condensing in isolated and random locations. Resembling ice, Bane Ice is not ice at all, it’s a crystal. Bane Ice is as hard and sturdy as steel. Its rarity and extra planar origins make Bane Ice very rare and expensive across the nations of Draconspire, with most Bane Ice weapons being forged in the city states of Dayrmacia. With hardness similar to steel forged items, it’s no wonder why wealthy adventurers would consider this beautiful material when purchasing or making new items. In addition to its aesthetic properties, weapons forged of Bane Ice overcome lawful aligned damage reduction and can have the frost or icy burst properties added to them for 10% less than their standard price. Any weapon or ammunition can be made of Bane Ice, even those not typically made of metal.

A weapon or ammunition created from Bane Ice costs four times the list price, if a double weapon is created with this material it costs eight times the list price, or four times if only one side of the double weapon is made of Bane Ice.

Bane Ice has 25 HP per inch of thickness and a base hardness of 10.
